Hacking the BSNL Routers and thus the emails !

Posted by hackthisway on November 13, 2009

Well, One of the biggest security blunders is relying on the default credentials. Many routers come preconfigured with default username password pair which generally is admin —admin  or admin — root or  root—admin or root—root

I am Using Angry IP scanner to scan for open port 80 which is router’s login port.

The video example I am demonstrating here is  an  ADSL router from PRONET Networking Solutions having admin as the username and password admin.

This video also shows how a compromised router can land an attacker directly into the victim’s email inbox.  The ISP is bsnl in this case which provides its users a password which is always password. You just need to know the username which I have blurred due to security reasons and for I am sometimes Ethical ……………. Let’s see :

So, the moral is don’t rely on defaults !
